The portraits on this websites are excerpts from an ongoing documentation of characters. While they are naturally intended to show my work of portraying people they also only show a selected element of each persons documentation.
My intention with this long term portrait series is to build a series of images for the person portrayed as well as for my own body of work. The change we as humans go through over extended amounts of time is highly interesting to me. Only with a lot of time dedicated can you build a portrayal of a person that will go to such depths and revelations.
The reason I chose to be a photographer was to create images that will tell a story and document our world. Reflecting on the last ten years of taking images I found that the long term documentation of people is what I am interested in. I find satisfaction in each individual shoot but following the change of my subject, reconnecting with that person, learning about their life and documenting the situation they are in has become the deeper perspective.
